“Dear friends, remember that we serve a God whose glory was displayed most brightly through his suffering on the cross.”
-Pastor Tae-Hyung Ko
This scares me. But I’m gripped by its profundity.
Jesus never apologized for giving others a burden (did Jesus apologize at all? hm…). We tend to use nice words to ask of people, like “would you please?” Not with Jesus. Not with Jesus, when he asked his disciples to bear the yolk. He was direct in his commands. Unapologetic.
He told his disciples to follow him and take up the cross.
The Kingdom life - is it the life that I really want? What exactly am I signing up for here, and am I up for it? It seems wonderful to ask of God to display his glory in my life. But what am I really asking here?
God, I groan inwardly. Help me to wait eagerly. Spirit, help me in my weakness.
Jesus said
Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.
We serve a God whose glory was displayed most brightly through the suffering on the cross.
